Loop-Mate1 generates 4 to 20 mA or 0 to 10V to simulate loop signals. Audible beeps that change pitch in sympathy with the output level plus auto-stepping through the range simplify a calibration engineer’s job. It has several additional features – it can generate the current using its own internal supply (RX Test mode), or control the current using an external supply (TX Sim mode).

Loop-mates designed for the calibration, testing and measurement of process loops are pocket sized units that boast a simplistic operation, no complicated selections just grab and go.

Loop-Mate 1 (537-2580) – Simulator which acts as a source in providing loop signals, a simple up and down button allows the user to increase or decrease the signal.

7 set points: 10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 90% and 100% each of which is shown on LED’s with beeps. The Loop-Mate 1 when used in conjunction with Loop-Mate 2 allows users to check a signal has arrived within specification at another location.

Loop-Mate 2 (537-2603) – Signal indicator with a 4-20 mA or 0-10 V loop type selection, also allowing the user to choose between a display of direct units or % of span. Also, specifically designed so that the LCD display shows the signal in mA, V, or % of span within an accuracy of 0.05%.

Powered by a PP3 battery both units provide up to 40 hours of continuous use, making them the ideal addition to any engineer testing kit.

Current loop calibrators are specially designed instruments for current loop trouble shooting, testing and calibration. They can source current on unpowered devices in a loop, simulate the operation of loop powered transmitters and also measure current. These calibrators often feature time saving technology, specialist graphics using digital interfaces and micro-processor based electronics.

Determined by Ohm’s law, which states that the current between 2 points through a conductor is directly proportionate to the voltage across those 2 points, divided by the resistance of the conductor. I = V/R. This is also the case for series and parallel circuits, however in parallel circuits the total current can be affected by the way the resistors have been connected, as well as their ohmic value. Current does divide up and there can be more current in one area over another nonetheless when all areas are added up the total amount is the same.
